SIJ #00 Sitting In Jams Introduction & Question and Answer

Episode 00 (Q&A):

Firstly, we’d like to welcome you all back to Sitting In!

It’s been a little while since we wrapped up Season 1 and we’ve been busy behind the scenes creating some exciting, new mini-projects leading up to our second season. This first mini-project is called ‘Sitting In Jams’, a short-length, weekly conversation by our three hosts Rhys Gilchrist, Callum Stevenson, and Jack Handyside. The Sitting In Jams format is designed to explore single topics, ideas, and questions submitted by our listeners. This week, we reached out to the Sitting In community to ask their questions and were met with a whole host of interesting topics to discuss in this episode! Sit in with us as we discuss everything to do with improvising, gear talk, and performing on stage in this extra-long episode!

(1.20) Sitting In with Emily C. Browning - Coffee, Touring During a Pandemic, Practicing Songwriting, Writing Trash Tunes & Mining for Gold.

Introduction + Q&A (8).png

This week, we're excited to have Emily C. Browning onto the podcast!

Emily is a New Zealand-based artist, songwriter, and guitarist who found recognition through growing a considerable following via social media. Since 2016, Emily has toured all through New Zealand with her own band, worked alongside Cory Wong, Raelee Nikole, and is one of the core members of the female/non-binary led collective 'Her Songs'. Emily released her captivating debut EP 'WTF' in 2019 featuring producer Ariza, and recently released the single 'Alive' featuring David Ryan Harris.

It was great to feature Emily as our final guest this week to conclude Season 1 of Sitting In. This episode was especially one for the songwriters and lyricists listening as we dived right into how Emily crafts her songs. Among many other things, we touched upon Emily's daily songwriter practices, working alongside Cory Wong and touring during a pandemic.
